SD1 is constructing a 3.8-million-gallon equalization (EQ) storage tank and a 16-million-gallon-per-day wet weather pump station in Kenton County. Together, these facilities will temporarily store and manage excess wastewater during heavy rain events, helping prevent sewer overflows and protect local waterways.
This project works in coordination with the Lakeview EQ Tank and Madison Pike sewer upsizing project to expand system capacity and improve flow management across the region. Together, these efforts are designed to eliminate approximately 4.25 million gallons of sewer overflow in a typical year, protecting Banklick Creek and contributing to cleaner, healthier waterways in Northern Kentucky.
This project is a key component of SD1’s Clean H2O40 program, which aims to eliminate capacity-related sewer overflows by 2040 and strengthen the region’s wastewater infrastructure for future generations.
