Operational in 2007, Eastern incorporates state-of-the-art wastewater treatment and odor control technologies. Instead of using chlorine, ultraviolet light disinfects water before release and innovative biofilters help control odor.

Eastern Regional is the smallest of SD1’s three major treatment plants. The facility has an average daily flow of about 1 million gallons per day and a flow capacity of about 4 million gallons per day. Eastern Regional serves more than 4,080 accounts.
