An Important Message from Joe Baxter

As one of SD1’s change agents and forward thinkers your participation as a member of the energy management team is greatly needed. This growing initiative is an exciting opportunity to make real change that yields tangible benefits. Hopefully, you also see the value in this type of recognition and will bring your creativity and open-mindedness to the group.

SD1 is committed to the success of organizational energy-saving goals. To date the organization has achieved measurable success in several energy management areas, but it is imperative to keep the initiative moving in a forward motion. In an effort stay ahead of the energy demand curve, new team members will work collectively to keep this ball moving down the field under the group name Intelligent Energy at Work (IE@W). Members will evaluate various concepts and identify proven processes and tools that will support SD1’s ongoing green initiatives.

The IE@W team will help to discover even more ways to reduce energy usage and drive positive engagement throughout the organization. The selected team members will bring strong and unique experiences, education, and backgrounds to the table. While continuing to work on existing initiatives, members will also look onward and upward to investigate emerging technologies and opportunities that currently do not exist on the energy management radar. The IE@W team will maintain the accountability of each item on the Energy Management Plan (EMP), and operate with the motto, “driven by results”, which places great emphasis on realizing actual change within a reasonable amount of time. 

In the next few weeks you will receive an invitation to join the kick-off meeting for the FY22 EMP.  This important meeting will allow time to review the status of items on the current plan and offer an opportunity to discuss new ideas as well.

During the kick-off, S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Bound) goals will be set on existing tasks, champions to run those tasks will be identified and a completion date will be established. It will be important to show the results of the work and demonstrate alignment of our words and actions as energy leaders of SD1.
