In the Banner: Bromley Treatment Plant Opens on July 1, 1954

When the Bromley Wastewater Treatment Plant opened in 1954, it didn't take long for local residents to begin complaining about hydrogen-sulfide odors. Within a year, a local Circuit Court had enjoined further operation of the plant until the issue could be resolved. Bromley remained closed for over a year while odor-reducing equipment was being installed, and wouldn't reopen until November 17, 1956. State inspectors gave the plant a clean bill of health the following February, and it continued operation until 1979 when the Dry Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant opened in Villa Hills.
