Teacher Toolkit

This toolkit is a one-stop shop for all teachers/schools participating in our education program.

The Standard Environmental Unit (Option 1) was designed for in-person learning whereas the Abbreviated Environmental Unit (Option 2) was designed for distance learning and unique classroom situations. You may choose whichever option is best for you.

One completed Water Log Work Book or one full set of sub worksheets (or a combination thereof) per class must be submitted to SD1 by the due date conveyed. Failure to do so may result in your school being back-billed for storm water fees and/or removed from SD1’s educational programming.

Educational Program Registration (Same for Standard and Abbreviated Unit)

2021-2022 Environmental Unit Credit Agreement and Program Registration Form5-15-21This agreement form must be completed annually by the teacher contact or principal in order to participate in the program. The information in this form is used to determine the amount of credit the school will receive.
2021-2022 Environmental Unit School Supply Order Form5-15-21This supply form is completed annually by the teacher contact and is used to request the number of supplies and books needed for the lesson. Review the Summary of Materials document prior to filling out this form.

Option 2: Abbreviated Five-Lesson Environmental Unit Sub-Worksheets (Google forms)

One complete set of sub-worksheets per class must be turned in to SD1. Please note: completed Google forms are sent directly to SD1. If you would like a copy of the completed sub-worksheets, please contact the Environmental Educator. Students must complete all five lesson sub-worksheets using either the PDFs or Google forms.

SD1 offers in-person and virtual field trip opportunities to Public Service Park to schools that enroll in its education program.

In-Person Field Trip Opportunity

Schools can participate in an in-person field trip upon completing the five-lesson Environmental Unit. Teachers must request an in-person field trip on their Credit and Program Registration Form.

Chaperone Training (Required for In-Person Field Trips)

In order to take part in a field trip, you will need one volunteer per 10 students. All volunteer chaperones have to attend a chaperone training. Please note, if a volunteer has taken a training in the past, they do not need to participate in another training.

Storm Drain Marking Volunteer Activity (Optional)

Gather a group from your neighborhood, school, scout troop, organization or business. Save-a-Stream is a community service project that all ages can find rewarding and fun, but please remember that all children must be supervised by a responsible adult. SD1 will provide your group with free storm drain marking supplies. Visit our Storm Drain Marking Program page to learn more!
