Prepare for Heavy Rainfall
Heavy rainfall or snowmelt can cause flooding, sewer backups and drainage issues to properties and neighborhoods. SD1 takes measures to prevent this through proper maintenance of public storm water infrastructure, but property owners also can take steps to reduce the risk of damage related to excess storm water.

Report an Emergency
Sewer emergencies may include issues such as backups, overland flooding, overflows and collapsed infrastructure. It’s important for customers to report all sewer emergencies to SD1 as soon as possible, so SD1 can investigate the cause.

Request for Final Determination
Created in 2018, Section 1400 of the SD1 Rules and Regulations provides for a formal appeal process for any aggrieved party to dispute any final decision, permit or order of SD1. This form can be used to dispute your wastewater bill or request a bill adjustment.

Storm Water Boundary
SD1’s storm water boundary focuses on the urbanized areas of Northern Kentucky, which are more densely populated and contain public infrastructure such as roadways, storm systems and wastewater systems.

Storm Water Co-Permittee Partners
SD1 has taken over ownership and maintenance duties of the public storm systems in much of Northern Kentucky. State and federal regulators have issued one permit to SD1, with the more than thirty local cities and counties listed as “Co-Permittees.”
