-
Fats, Oils & Grease Program
Fats, oils and grease can wreak havoc on your plumbing and SD1’s sewer pipes. When residents and businesses pour fats, oils and grease (FOG) down sinks or floor drains, these substances can build up in pipes. This can ruin plumbing and prevent wastewater from moving through SD1’s sanitary sewer pipes to a treatment plant for cleaning.
-
GIS Maps
SD1 utilizes ESRI GIS maps to record the locations of SD1 assets, including pipes, manholes and catch basins.
-
Industrial Pretreatment
Industrial flow requires additional controls to ensure potential pollutants don’t disrupt the normal operation of SD1’s wastewater treatment plants.

Storm Drain Marking Program
Everything that enters a storm drain flows directly to a nearby creek, stream or river. You can be the solution to water pollution by partnering with SD1 to place signage on some of Northern Kentucky’s more than 25,000 storm drains.
-
Storm Water Service
SD1 provides storm water management services to 29 cities and unincorporated portions of three counties in Northern Kentucky. We strive to manage storm water runoff within our service area as effectively and efficiently as possible.
-
Stream Monitoring
The foundation for SD1’s environmental initiatives is a holistic assessment program that includes in-stream water quality and biological monitoring throughout Northern Kentucky.

Wastewater Service
Wastewater is the flow of used water from homes, businesses, schools, industries and more. Wastewater is funneled into SD1’s sanitary sewer system where it is safely transported to a wastewater treatment plant, cleaned and emptied into the nearest creek or river.

Water Conservation
Water conservation is important because fresh clean water is a limited and costly resource. The majority of household water usage comes from toilets, washing machines, showers/baths, faucets and leaks. By following these tips, you can not only help save the environment, but you might also save some money.
