DJ Scully from the Campbell County Cooperative Extension Services was one of the presenters at this year’s WaterIfic event. Local sixth-grade students, such as the ones pictured here from St. Pius, attended WaterIfic on May 11 and 12 to participate in hands-on activities designed to heighten awareness of current environmental issues.

Students from St. Pius enjoyed a lesson offered by Newport Aquarium’s WAVE Foundation at the 2006 WaterIfic event, which was held at the District on May 11 and 12.

To start off their field trip at Public Service Park, students from Ft. Wright Elementary are each given a backpack with supplies to carry with them along their journey of a drop of water.

Public Service Park tours are not limited to school groups. The District also offers field trips to other community organizations, such as the Cub Scout group pictured above.

Students from Ruth Moyer have fun with the “Would You Swim Here?” lesson, which is the first of five lessons included in SD1’s Environmental Unit.
