Engineers are exploring natural ways to capture storm water and divert it from sewers and into the ground. It's part of an $800 million court-imposed requirement to minimize sewage overflows.

On Tuesday, April 22, 2008, the Cincinnati Area Chapter of the American Red Cross presented the Proud Provider Plaque to Sanitation District No. 1 (the District) at their monthly Board of Directors meeting. The Proud Provider Plaque recognizes organizations for their efforts to provide quality health, safety and preparedness training.

On April 23, 2008, Governor Steve Beshear visited the main office of Sanitation District No. 1 to present a $1 million grant to the Banklick Watershed Council for improving water quality and preventing nonpoint source pollution in Banklick Creek in Boone and Kenton counties.

Sanitation District No. 1 (District) is hosting a series of public meetings to discuss how green infrastructure approaches can be utilized in Northern Kentucky to protect water resources by reducing storm water runoff and mitigating sewer overflows...

Sanitation District No. 1 is accepting public comments on the draft "Framework for Developing Watershed Plans for Northern Kentucky". Following the Environmental Protection Agency's recommendations for watershed planning, this document defines how the District will conduct watershed planning, identify needs and data gaps, meet regulatory requirements and prioritize solutions. Comments may be submitted by mail to Sanitation District No. 1, Attn: Peggy Casey, 1045 Eaton Drive, Ft. Wright, KY, 41017 or by email to info@sd1.org. All comments must be received by April 9, 2008.

By resolution of the Board of Directors of the District, the following resolution was passed February 19, 2008: RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of Sanitation District No. 1 hereby adopts the Proposed Revised Schedule of Rates and Fees effective July 1, 2008. Pursuant to KRS 220.593(2), the adopted schedule of rates and fees will remain open for inspection at Sanitation District No. 1, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., weekdays (holidays excepted) for thirty (30) days from the publication of this notice. Any person claiming to be aggrieved by the proposed revised schedule may file written objections to it with the District within the thirty (30) day comment period.
