Sanitation District No. 1’s services have been recognized on both a local and national level. Throughout 2005, SD1 has been honored with the following awards:
- NACWA’s (National Association for Clean Water Agencies) National Environmental Achievement Award in Public Information and Education
- EPA’s (Environmental Protection Agency) Children’s Environmental Health Award
- NACWA’s Silver Peak Performance Award for the District’s Dry Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant
- A.D. Albright Award, sponsored by The Kentucky Post, the Education Alliance of Northern Kentucky and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce
- Governor’s Occupational Safety & Health Award in recognition of over 1 million hours without a loss time incident
