Industrial Pretreatment Program

As a new industrial customer, compliance with SD1's Rules and Regulations is important. This website has been created to provide you with all pertinent information you may need.

Wastewater discharged from an industry may contain pollutants which could interfere with the operations of a wastewater treatment faciltiy.

Permitted Users

Fats, Oils and Grease Program

Industrial processes must be monitored by SD1's Industrial Pretreatment Department to best protect SD1's wastewater treatment facilities.

When disposed of improperly, FOG can build up, blocking sanitary sewer lines. This accumulation can reduce the capacity of the wastewater collection system.

Emergency Spill Notification

SD1 Rates and Fees Schedule

To help SD1 better prepare their wastewater treatment facilities for unexpected discharges, spills and/or pretreatment bypasses must be reported immediately after being discovered. 

Please contact SD1 at 859-547-1673 to report a spill or pretreatment bypass.

When wastewater of high strength is discharged by an industry, they will be charged a surcharge based on the strength and volume of their wastewater.

Unusual/One-time Discharge 

Auxiliary and Special Meters

All unusual or one-time discharges must be approved by SD1's Industrial Pretreatment Department prior to being discharged into the sanitary sewer system.

Non-residential customers are billed year-round on actual usage. They may choose to enroll in our special meter program and apply for a refund for this usage once a year.

Waste Haulers

SD1 receives wastewater from a variety of sources. Most of the wastewater is discharged into the sanitary sewer system, however, it can also be transported by a waste hauler.
