Deputy Executive Director, Operations
Christopher Novak has served as Deputy Executive Director of Operation since July 2008. As such, he oversees SD1's Capital Improvements Program, Treatment Plant and Pump Station Operations, Fleet Operations, Facility Maintenance and Collection System Operations including Customer Service and Construction. Prior to being named Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Novak served as Director of the Capital Improvements Program overseeing all of the infrastructure improvements of SD1 as well as the construction inspection process. Mr. Novak joined SD1 in June 2000 as Program Manager for the Capital Improvements Program.
Prior to joining SD1's team, Mr. Novak was employed by the City of Newport, Kentucky for 10 years where he served as their director of community services and zoning administrator. He had oversight responsibility for public works, parks and recreation, building and code enforcement, zoning and project management. During his tenure with the City, Mr. Novak was highly involved in the development of the Newport Aquarium and the Newport on the Levee projects. He served as an alternate on the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees for OKI and was on several committees for Southbank Partners.
During the 1980s, Mr. Novak owned and operated his own construction and development firm focusing on residential and light commercial construction. He is a member of the Water Environment Federation, the North American Society for Trenchless Technology, a past member of Building Officials Code Administrators (BOCA), Code Administrators Association of Kentucky (CAAK) and is a member of the Kentucky Colonels.
