About the Certified Tappers Program
Certification Process
Applicants are required to attend a training program, which lasts approximately two hours, to review the current Rules & Regulations and specifications. Before their certification will be issued, attendees must pass a written exam that will be administered during the training class. Following the successful completion of this training, each class member will receive a photo certification ID that will contain their individual certification number. Certified Tappers will be required to display this ID at the time of inspection.

Costs
Companies interested in having their employees certified must first post a Licensed Sewer Tappers Bond of $5,750. This bond will be used to cover costs for correcting improper taps if not fixed within an appropriate time frame or to complete unfinished work. There is no limit to the number of employees that a company may have certified under this bond.

Each individual that wishes to be certified must pay an application fee, please reference the current Fee Schedule, which should accompany the Tapper Certification Application. To renew this certification, individuals will be required to pay an annual renewal fee, please reference the current Fee Schedule. Both the initial application fee and the certification renewal fee are required to cover the administration costs of the program.
