Any time you disturb the earth, you run the risk of accidentally digging into underground infrastructure, which includes sewer and water mains, cable TV lines, gas lines or other services. Taking the necessary precautions before digging or excavating in your road/street right-of-way or yard will protect yourself, the environment and underground infrastructure.
Sanitation District No. 1 provides a free-of-charge Call Before You Dig service to the residents in our service area. We will send an inspector out to mark any buried sanitary sewer main lines within the area that you will be working. To utilize this service, please contact:
John Warndorf
Engineering Technician
859-578-6895
Before calling, please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Your name, phone number where you can be reached, company name (if applicable), and mailing address
- The name and phone number of an alternate contact person, in case our inspector has questions and cannot reach you
- Address where the digging or excavating will be done, including the county and city the work is taking place in
- Lot number (if new subdivision or development)
- A description of the type of work that is being done
